Congratulations Hamilton Soroptimists

Motion S4M-09271: Margaret Mitchell, Central Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party, Date Lodged: 07/03/2014

That the Parliament congratulates Hamilton Soroptimists on what it considers its success in promoting the Purple Teardrop Campaign; understands that the campaign aims to raise awareness about and suppress demand for the trafficking of women and children; notes that Hamilton members of Soroptimist International, in partnership with Women’s Aid South Lanarkshire, have distributed Loves Me/Loves Me Not bookmarks to young people in schools and colleges in South Lanarkshire as part of a relationship programme; welcomes the fact that feedback has been so positive and that Women’s Aid South Lanarkshire is using them for adults as well, and believes that Hamilton Soroptimists is doing invaluable work in raising awareness of human trafficking, which it considers necessary in order to counter modern day slavery.
