Cardiff Soroptimists’ Taxi Initiative

The photo features President Dr Joan Williams of SI Cardiff and District presenting taxi stickers to Nici Evans, Partership Development Manager, Cardiff City Council.  On the right is Dr Mwenya Chimba of BAWSO. Funded by SI Cardiff and District, and in conjunction with BAWSO, the stickers display a freephone helpline for a taxi driver to call if he/she suspects that he/she is carrying a trafficked person in the vehicle. It is also available of course to victims. The stickers were presented on 7th March in readiness for International Women’s Day, 8th March and is in keeping with the year’s them of support for the vulnerable.  Last July, SI Cardiff hosted a trafficking seminar to raise awareness of the issue.  This was attended by 160 people
